For homeowners

Get quotes for work on your home, free

Describe the job once. Local crews who do that work get it in their alerts and email you if they're interested. You choose who to talk to. No fees, and no calls from people you didn't pick.

How it works

  1. Post the job. What needs doing, your town, and when you'd like quotes by. About three minutes.
  2. Confirm by email. We send one email to check it's you, and a quick look from us before it goes out.
  3. Crews get in touch. Each interested crew's name, trades and email comes straight to your inbox. Reply to the ones you like.

Hiring safely

  • Get at least two written quotes that say what's included, and when.
  • Ask for proof of liability insurance, and for bigger jobs, workers' compensation coverage (WorkSafeBC in BC, WCB in Alberta).
  • For plumbing, gas and electrical work, hire a licensed trade and ask whether a permit is needed.
  • Ask for references from similar jobs, and check reviews.
  • Don't pay the whole amount up front. A small deposit for materials is normal; the rest when the work is done.

CrewBid lists jobs and passes along crews' details. We don't vet or endorse crews, so take the steps above before you hire.

Questions

What does it cost?

Nothing, for you or for the crews who reply. CrewBid doesn't take a cut, and nobody should ask you for a fee to quote.

Who sees my address and phone number?

Nobody, unless you tell them. Crews see "Homeowner", your town and the job. Interested crews send you their details by email, and you reply to the ones you like.

How many crews will reply?

It depends on the trade and the town. The form shows how many crews near you get this kind of job before you post. Many homeowners hear from two or three.

What if nobody replies?

Your request stays listed until the date you picked, and you can move the date or change the details. Before you post, the form shows how many crews near you get this kind of work in their alerts.

Do I need an account?

No. Post with just your email and press Confirm in the email we send. That also signs you in, so next time your details are filled in and you can see all your requests under My requests.

Can I change or cancel a request?

Yes, any time, from the request's page or My requests. Crews who were tracking it get a note saying what changed.
