How it works
- Post the package. The project, what's in this package and what's by others, where to get the drawings, and when you need prices.
- Trades near the job get it. Members who do that trade in the area get it in their alerts, usually the same day.
- Interested trades email you. Each one's business name, trades, insurance and note comes to your inbox. You send the drawings to the ones you want prices from.
Getting subtrade prices you can carry
- Say what's in the package and what's by others, so every price covers the same scope.
- Link the drawings and specs, or say how subs can get them.
- Give the schedule: when the work is on site and substantial completion.
- State holdback, bonding and payment terms up front. Smaller trades price risk into anything left vague.
- Ask for a WorkSafeBC clearance letter (WCB in Alberta) and a certificate of insurance before anyone's on site.
CrewBid lists work and passes along trades' details. Your subcontract is between you and the trade you choose.
Questions
What does it cost?
Nothing, for you or for the crews who reply. CrewBid doesn't take a cut, and nobody should ask you for a fee to quote.
Can I post a package for a public job I won?
Yes. Name the project and the owner so trades know what it is. Check your prime contract first: some owners ask you to name your subtrades in the bid, or to approve changes to them.
What do trades see about us?
Your company name, the town and the package. With your own domain email they also see a Verified badge, and your website when it is on that domain.
What if nobody replies?
Your request stays listed until the date you picked, and you can move the date or change the details. Before you post, the form shows how many crews near you get this kind of work in their alerts.
Can I change or cancel a request?
Yes, any time, from the request's page or My requests. Crews who were tracking it get a note saying what changed.
